Portugal's Francisco Conceicao scored a dramatic injury-time winner to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic in their opening match of the 2024 European Championship. The substitute came on in the 80th minute and netted the decisive goal just seconds before the final whistle.
The game had been evenly poised throughout, with both teams creating chances. Portugal took the lead in the 33rd minute through Diogo Dalot, but the Czech Republic equalized in the 65th minute with a header from Patrik Schick.
With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Conceicao popped up with the winner in the 94th minute. He received a pass from Bernardo Silva on the edge of the area and fired a low shot into the bottom corner.
The victory gives Portugal a strong start to their Euro 2024 campaign and moves them top of Group F. Czechia will be disappointed with the result but will have another chance to pick up points when they face Spain on Saturday.
